I think the harmonic piece is one of your strongest submissions to date. As with the serial piece, I wish you would have clearly indicated your usages on the score so I could better read it. Nevertheless, it presents a lot of well crafted implementation of the concepts about which we spoke in class. I will say that I think everyone is playing too much. You have written for piano, oboe, and violin and all of them play all the time. That gets tiresome. I think the piece could be really strong if you rewrite it with an ear towards letting the three instruments present themselves individually as well as in conversation with the others. The serial piece was good. I would have liked to have seen the annotations as its very difficult to see the matrices without. I liked the half-staccato quarter-quarter motive and would like to see and hear what you could do with that in a more developed manner. Overall, very nice job.
