Will,

Your piano piece for harmonic construction could be one of the best I have heard from you. Its an excellent composition. Not only did you implement the theoretical constructs about which we discussed during the semester, you did so in a very stylized compositional process. Your motives are clear, interesting, and dynamic. There is no doubt about your musical point. I strongly urge you to find a good pianist to perform this live and get a recording of the performance. As well, this piece should be included in any grad school applications that still await.

I would have to say that between the two I prefer the harmonic piece to the serial piece but its only by a narrow margin and I could easily repeat my comments above for your serial piece. Please consider exploring serialism a bit more. You may find it an exciting area. I very much enjoyed the end of the serial piece. It seemed a bit tongue in cheek.
